Climate Strike

April 22nd 2023 at 2PM - Monument Square, Portland

This Earth Day, Maine Youth for Climate Justice, along with several other local organizations and activists, are striking in downtown Portland for a greener, safer, and more equitable world that prioritizes people over polluting corporations.

This strike will focus not only on calling for an end to the fossil fuel era but also on recognizing the intersections between climate justice and social justice, racial justice, and other prominent issues impacting our communities. A truly just transition to renewable energy requires that we put people–especially those in frontline and marginalized communities–at the forefront of our work.

Therefore, we want to build a climate strike in which everyone feels included. With our Earth Day strike, we are striving to create an opportunity for everyone who wants to make our state, our country, and our world a better place to join together as a Maine community and demand our leaders take action.

RSVP here if you are planning to attend the strike to help us get a rough sense of how many people will be there.

Want to help us publicize the strike? Use this toolkit with flyers, sample social media posts, and more!
